The Blood Pressure

When blood flows through the body and enters the arteries, the pressure it exerts on the walls of the arteries is called blood pressure.

Normally, the level of blood pressure is 120/80, in which 120 is called the systolic pressure and 80 is called the diastolic pressure.

What is High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure is a condition in which the force of the blood against the walls of the arteries is consistently too high.

It may be 130/80 or 140/90 , If this remains constant, then your blood pressure will be considered high.

Sign and Symptoms

In medical terms, blood pressure is known as a silent killer because you never know when it might attack you.

Having a headache.

·  Headache is a common symptom of high blood pressure, especially when the pressure rises suddenly.

·  It usually occurs at the back of the head or in the morning after waking up.

·  Severe or persistent headaches may indicate uncontrolled hypertension.

·  Low blood pressure can also cause dizziness or light headaches due to reduced blood flow to the brain.

Feeling of heaviness or fullness in the eyes.

High blood pressure can cause a feeling of heaviness or pressure in the eyes due to increased pressure in the blood vessels.

·  It may lead to eye strain, blurred vision, or discomfort.

·  Retinal damage (called hypertensive retinopathy) can occur if high blood pressure remains uncontrolled for a long time.

·  Swelling or puffiness around the eyes can also be an early sign of high blood pressure or fluid retention.

·  Regular eye checkups can help detect changes in the blood vessels caused by high blood pressure.

·  Controlling blood pressure through a healthy lifestyle and medication helps protect your eyes and vision.

Weakness

·  Low blood pressure (hypotension) can cause weakness due to reduced blood flow to the brain and muscles.

·  High blood pressure (hypertension) may also lead to weakness if it affects the heart, kidneys, or blood vessels over time.

·  Sudden drop in blood pressure can cause dizziness, fainting, and a feeling of extreme tiredness.

·  Weakness may be a sign of poor oxygen supply to body tissues caused by abnormal blood pressure.

·  Dehydration, stress, or lack of nutrition can worsen weakness in people with unstable blood pressure.

·  Maintaining a balanced diet, regular exercise, and proper hydration helps in managing blood pressure and reducing weakness.
